Philip Angus put on a picture "what’s for tea mum"
A photo can stir so many memories up.
Here's my trip into the picture.
THE PICTURE
Mum stood in her turban
In her paisley wrap around pinafore
Her hard working hands
Duster in pocket, ready for more chores
Shelf behind her
With a selection of pans piled high
Kettle's ready on the stove
Simmering away not boiling dry
Enamel worktop and bread bin
Flour container, and mesh cheese safe
Small but well used kitchen
Everything in its place.
Brown teapot and knitted cosy
Table cloth, looking pretty and rosy
Cups, saucers, clothes on line above her head
Table and chairs, where all the family were fed
Dolly tub and ponch
Belfast sink, curtains neatly round
Check carpet and rag rug
No nicer kitchen could be found
I think this mum was happy
Doing her daily chores
Mums were Unique
Just like MINE and YOURS!
