Many years ago at the St Ann's Library I sang a song to the tune of Bare Foot days
I called it ....... OLD SENTY REMEMBERED I can remember how glad I used to be To walk up old Senty as proud as proud could be Norland road was our abode, we lived at number four All the kids they called for me, they knocked upon our door In old Senty oh when they said we lived in slums Old Senty with love of all those dads and mums We could go off to the park, didn’t worry about the dark All those kids in different gangs, we often had a lark In old Senty this place is so close to my heart St Anns Well Road how sad I was to part Corner shops and whip and tops and fun in our back yard Bath night in our old tin bath and supper bread and lard But we survived I think that our breed is unique And we did our best for folks on every street Schools and pubs did many trips, and the seaside seemed so far Everyone joined in the fun not many had a car Now life has changed from what we used to know Those memories I just cannot let go Oh I remember you...ooh...ooh do you remember ME If you don’t then I don’t mind......but remember old Senty ...oh yea !!........Jean Webmaster: Mavis Baker (co-admin of St Ann's Well Road Pre-Demolition (1970) Online Community)
