SUNDAY
In our busy week, I fondly remember
The Sabbath day, in all of its splendour
Sunday dinner was special, prepared with love and care
Aromas drifting in the street
Taste buds dancing ready to eat
Tiza, cream soda, dandelion & burdock
Me and our Sue in our best Sunday frocks
Dad reads News of the world and the People--before we go out
We were such good children, no messing about
What a nice time we have, we all love this day
Sunday School, Church, we kids found time to pray
Thank you for the world so sweet, Thank you for the food we eat
Thank you for the birds that sing, Thank you God for everything
In St Ann's Well Road, shops were plenty
And our pantry cupboard was never empty
Then teatime was another treat, the table set again
Bread and butter, tinned mixed fruit, carnation milk and cake
There might be a few jam tarts, that mam had time to make
When I grow up...and it's up to me
I’ll have more cake for Sunday tea
And Sunday best clothes, I'll wear when I like
I'll play two ball, and ride my bike
Sunday night at the London Palladium
I'll watch till the end, mam laughs at me saying, you always pretend
Yes I'll pretend I’ve got more money ....., than I could ever spend
My purse would never be empty
And my Heart will be full of happy growing up days
It will be Thanks to Dear old SENTY
Aww mam did let me watch telly x
