Our Chippie
We all had a local chippie
One we liked the best
Chips wrapped up in the Evening Post
With batter bits we liked the most
A little bit of vinegar and salt
The aromas drifting in the air
All ready for the feast
We all had wooden forks that's to say the least
Newspaper open on our table
Bread and butter covered in print
The lingering taste on our lips
We all enjoyed Friday night chips
The chip shop was a landmark
We also got fish, pie and peas
Fritters, sausage, fishcakes
Faggots we'd take a basin for these
Years pass by
Lots of things change
But the love for the chip shop
Will always remain, bring us a bag duck !
