Here's a poem I wrote years ago,
I think we must all feel the same when you get to the last couple of lines
"Thanks Mum "
When I couldn't reach the light
Or the pedals on my bike
You helped
Thanks Mum
When my face was streaked with muck
You'd spit on your hankie and clean me up
Thanks Mum
When I couldn't eat my veg
But could always eat my pudding instead
"You let me"
Thanks Mum
When my words I couldn't spell
You helped me out, "Don't worry gel"
Thanks Mum
When teachers said I wasn't bright
You said I was a shining light
Thanks Mum
When my friends came to our house
They always stayed for tea
You made everybody welcome
You said that's how it should be
Thanks Mum
Whenever there was a problem
You'd always lend a hand
Quick to help in any way and always understand
Thanks Mum
When I married, my husband said:
"If your'e like your mum, we'll be long wed
Thanks Mum
When I became a Mum myself
You gave me good advice
Live, Love, and be Happy
And enjoy changing every nappy
Thanks Mum
When I remember all you said
To me and my sisters three,
To have you as our Mum
We were born lucky
Thanks Mum
There's a million mothers in the world
Ours was one in a million
I think we must all feel the same when you get to the last couple of lines
"Thanks Mum "
When I couldn't reach the light
Or the pedals on my bike
You helped
Thanks Mum
When my face was streaked with muck
