AND SO TO BED
At trip back in my childhood-I see my sisters, mam and dad
I recall our house and the memories I have
The door was in the kitchen that led to spiral stairs
Two bedrooms and two landings - at night we'd say our prayers
Each bedroom had a fireplace and a cosy bed
Puffed up pillows to snuggle your head
Billy Fury on the walls - my sister Sue was crazy on him
In our small room, at the top of her voice she'd sing
A sash cord window with brocade curtains blue and gold
In our lovely bedroom my memories unfold
Big flowered lino and a bedside mat
Not a fitted carpet, you were rich to have that
But Dad did make a wardrobe in which we hung our clothes
From casuals to Sunday best, lined up in rows
Was life so simple as I grew?
When I shared a bedroom with my sister Sue
