Nottingham Beach poem
Thursday 28th of August in Town
I heard a little boy say:
“Mummy where's the Beach going?
Why are they taking it away?
Where’s the deckchairs and sand.”
Bless him, he didn't understand
“Where's the rides
And where's the stalls
Where are they going?
To go with it all.”
“Won't I see it anymore mum?
I'll miss it. It was such fun.”
She said: “ Monday son it's back to school
And now the weather is turning cool
Lots of children will be sad
That it's no longer there
Let’s look forward to its return
In the Summer of next year.”
Nottingham you gave us
The Coast at home
It wasn't out of our reach
Thanks to all concerned
For school holidays at the Beach!
