Christmas memories 1959
When I think of Christmas and long ago, With sleighs, reindeers, Santa and snow We made decorations, trimmings we would glue. A few toys to pick from ,you might get one or two, We'd go out and see friends, show off what we'd got Children were happy, we didn't get a lot A game for the family to play after dinner Extra sweets if you were the winner Dad played the piano and we'd all join in Songs of Christmas and carols we'd sing We all sat around in paper hats No fitted carpets so children on mats All family together, oh wasn't it fun Just a few memories of Christmas From when I was young ! "Another present " pyjamas soft and fluffy to keep me warm as toast slippers with the fur around, so my feet would roast Snug in bed in my night attire when morning comes it's quick near the fire |
Santa was always kind to me
Santa was always kind to me He knew just what I liked One year he left a special note To share my sister’s bike I had goodies in my pillow case Chocolate, fruit and sweets Nightie, slippers, gloves and scarf Among my special treats To see my family all gathered Would be my greatest gift of all Christmas memories of those days gone When I was very small New pyjamas, soft and fluffy that keep me warm as toast Slippers with fur around so my feet would roast No central heating ...a wool blanket on the bed If the air felt chilly just cover my head Snug in bed in my night attire - when morning comes It’s quick near the fire Oh to be young, always happy with sisters, dad and mum x |
