In dreams, I walk the cobbled streets In our wonderful back yard I see Washing blowing on the lines And lots of neighbours busy
Toilet just across the yard Newspaper squares on string and nail Whitewashed walls, scrubbed wooden seat A bath hung up, used once a week
Under the kitchen windowsill Our mangle had pride and place Dolly tub and ponch in front At the window I see Mam's loving face
She worked hard with Dad to make our happy home I can see our dad putting ashes in the bin Then clearing out the "outhouse" So our wash house pram fits in
Then I see a spider I let out such a scream Sadly I woke up It was all in my dream
These dreams make me happy Remembering being young There's lots of memories, of our back yard THIS IS ONLY ONE ! !
